Duties
This position administers writer-editor guidance, as the senior subject-matter expert, on all written products of the Office of Professional Responsibility and related managers, program officials, and leading figures of government. In this position you will be interacting with all levels of leadership, exhibits sound judgment, discretion, attention to detail, strong work ethic, robust analytical skills, and is sensitive to process, protocol, deadline, and timetable requirements.
This position starts at a salary of $117,962.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $153,354.00 (GS-13, Step 10).

The incumbent occupying this position is responsible for:
Editing, writing, and disseminating written products for OPR to include pamphlets, memoranda, correspondence, presentations, handbooks, training materials, manuals, regulations, guidebooks, and other written communication to ensure the proper functioning and operation of OPR; written product requires clear and concise messages and may vary in complexity, which requires a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
Researching and verifying the accuracy of information, and compiling results to OPR leadership with complete and thorough information.
Writing and/or editing public facing written material content, including web site material and press releases, on a wide variety of topics to ensure the content is accurate and tailored to appropriately convey the intended message.
Reviewing and responding to congressional inquiries on matters of varying complexity related to the mission, policies, programs, and initiatives of OPR.
Editing, writing, creating editorial policies, practices, guidelines, and standards and maintains awareness of current government writing, reporting style, and format requirements, and works directly with appropriate senior officials to resolve questions about its content and technical application.
Qualifications
Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
editing, writing, and disseminating written products to include pamphlets, memoranda, correspondence, presentations, handbooks, training materials, manuals, regulations, guidebooks, and other written communication;
writing, editing and adjusting reporting style and format for specified media and audiences to explain a variety of subjects;
drafting detailed reports for and providing detailed briefings to senior executive management;
reviewing and responding to congressional inquiries on matters of varying complexity related to the mission, policies, programs, and initiatives;
writing and/or editing public facing written material content, including web site material and press releases, on a wide variety of topics

You must:
Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and
Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 10/16/2024.

Residency: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP. Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates (as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years. Probationary Period: All employees new to the federal government must serve a one year probationary period during the first year of his/her initial permanent federal appointment to determine fitness for continued employment.
