This position is part of the Plant Operations, Government Publishing Office in Washington,
District of Columbia.
Duties
Coordinate production activities within the division to ensure that production deadlines are met and commitments are fulfilled, and that optimum quality of products and efficiency of operations are maintained.
Outline priorities, deadlines and makes changes in operations when necessary.
Assess employee and equipment productivity, and make recommendations to the Production Manager regarding manpower requirements, methods of improvement, acquisition of new equipment, etc.
Participating in the development of strategic and operational plans; analyzing operations and assessing the impact on program requirements.
Performing the full range of supervisory functions including hiring, evaluating performance, approving leave, resolving grievances, and disciplining employees.

- You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.

- Selectee may be required to serve a one year probationary period.
- TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify
- Selectee must successfully pass pre-employment conditions of employment prior to appointment.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Printing Officer, PG - 1654 - 14 , you must meet the following requirements:
To minimally qualify for the PG-14 level, you must meet the requirement below. Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the PG-13 (or equivalent) grade level or higher. Specialized experience is defined as work that involves:
1) Managing manufacturing operations through subordinate supervisors,
2) Developing strategic and operational plans to adapt to changing technology and priorities, and
3) Making decisions related to manpower, equipment, and improvements within a production environment.
4) Coordinate production activities.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used or this grade level.
