You will serve as a Security Assistant at the GG-06 grade level within the Office of the Commander, US Fleet Cyber Command/US Tenth Fleet, Security Directorate conducting the initial assessment of reliability, loyalty, and trustworthiness of Navy recruits entering boot camp into the Cryptologic, Intelligence, or Information Systems specialties that require a security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
Duties
You will be responsible for assisting in reviewing personnel clearance requests.
You will prescreen Navy recruits.
You will provide information, answer questions, and forward the clearance requests to the appropriate investigative agency.
You will review e-QIP applications for accuracy and completeness prior to transmission to OPM to start the formal background investigation process.
You will monitor security requests submitted to ensure the investigation was accepted and open by National Background Investigation Bureau prior to personnel transferring to the next duty station.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of an offer or removal. Indicate the level and date of your clearance in your resume.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- This position may be subject to polygraph examination.
- This position may require a 2-year DCIPS trial period requirement.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS/GG-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector such as:
Assisting with initiating and transmitting requests for background investigations.
Assisting with fingerprint applicants and ensure the prints are of quality to enable proper classification
Assisting with providing instructions to personnel on the proper completion of pre-nomination security interview documents and other forms required for requesting a special background investigation.
Assisting with interviewing personnel for clarification on responses or missing information, evaluates the results of the interview and prepares prescribed, standard reports of findings in accordance with established policies and procedures relevant to the individual
