CBO seeks a Paralegal to provide a variety of legal support services in a collaborative, fast-paced, and complex environment.

Duties

The Congressional Budget Office is a small nonpartisan agency that provides economic and budgetary analysis to the Congress. CBO seeks a Paralegal to provide a variety of legal support services in a collaborative, fast-paced, and complex environment. The Paralegal conducts a full range of legal research, from basic to complex including legislative history, case law, slip opinions, regulations, statutes, and so on through automated legal research tools and other resources, as well as public databases. The Paralegal helps manage a busy docket of wide-ranging legal and contract matters; assists with managing the archiving and retrieval of guidance provided by the Office of General Counsel (OGC); provides assistance to all employees in OGC; and, in conjunction with the Senior Ethics Officer, serves as a contact for those within CBO seeking OGCs advice or assistance. The Paralegal also supports OGC in litigation matters.

Qualifications

See technical qualificationsTECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:The position requires a detail-oriented self-starter who can maintain strict confidentiality, work well with a number of senior staff members, and complete assignments in a timely manner. Candidates should have excellent judgment, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to quickly perform requested legal and factual research using both electronic and manual library searches. Candidates must be able to balance multiple priorities and monitor and track internal deadlines and other aspects of OGCs work. Candidates will be evaluated on their total background, including experience, education, awards, and training. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or at least three years of experience working with legal matters. Candidates with law firm experience are preferred. Training or experience in litigation, government contracting, or ethics is desirable but not required. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable outcome to a Tier 1 (NACI) investigation.

EDUCATION:

Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or at least three years of experience working with legal matters.
