This position is located at Office of the Inspector General for Tax Admin,Office of Audit. As a Supervisory IT Specialist (DATAMGT), you will be responsible for supervising Information Technology (IT) Specialists responsible for facilitating data extractions/transfers involving IRS mainframe tax administration information systems and IRS tax administration information stored in other IRS data repositories, such as the IRS' Compliance Data Warehouse (CDW) or IRS business unit data marts.
Duties
As a Supervisory IT Specialist (DATAMGT), you will:
Assign work to subordinates based on the nature of the work to be performed, priorities, selective consideration of task difficulty and the capabilities of employees.
Provide consulting data services to assist customers in planning their data extracts.
Justify access needs and works with IRS business and IT organizations to secure access, including coordinating with IRS User Support personnel, to negotiate and secure end-user access to IRS systems and ensure TIGTA employees are provided the appropriate level of support.
Evaluate work performance of subordinates; reviews extract validation documentation to assess the work performed and data validity checks conducted, and provide feedback to subordinates.
Prepare and support estimates of budgetary requirements for personnel, services and resources needed to fulfill Section, Division and TIGTA goals
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For the GS-14: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
- Planning and managing information technology activities that include extracting, formatting and analyzing data from QSAM, VSAM, DB2 and related environment(s); and
- Utilization of SAS, JCL, SQL and/or XML for reading and transforming data for load into a data warehouse, for analysis, and/or in preparing reports and related products; OR
- Experience in a tax administration organization applying data acquisition, data use and/or data life cycle management standards to accomplish major program objectives.
In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.
Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
