This position is in the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Farm Production and Conservation (FPAC), Natural Resources and Conservation Service (NRCS), Science and Technology (S&T) Deputy Area.
The primary purpose of the work is to serve as the Administrative and Program Support to provide staff assistance, analytical and management expertise in support of the S&T Centers, Divisions Directors.
Duties
Serves as the central point of contact to provide administrative and office management support throughout the agency.
Establishes, organizes, and maintains a filing system of official material and records; disposes material in accordance with prescribed procedures.
Provides administrative guidance, updates, and retrieval of information associated with training, travel, and technical reports.
Exercises control over the agency calendar for appointments, meetings, engagements, and conferences.
Provides guidance and training personnel on operating procedures and guidelines to ensure administrative responsibilities are met.
Requirements

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

Time In Grade Requirement: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.
One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level.
One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-08 level.
One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level.

Applicants must meet the following in order to be considered:
TYPING REQUIREMENT: To qualify for this position, you must have a typing speed of at least 40 words per minute. You must self-certify your typing speed.
AND
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level(s) in which you are applying:
GS-07
Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-07 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. This experience must include:
Maintaining a program filing/case system and adhering to filing requirements;
Utilizing computer software to process internal and external correspondence throughout the agency;
Assisting in the preparation and processing of travel authorizations and local travel claims for reimbursements; and
Assisting with the preparation and review of technical reports, correspondence, and presentations.

GS-08
Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-08 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. This experience must include:
Processing and monitoring directives, policies, procedures, and guidelines;
Assisting with preparing budgetary information by ensuring its accuracy and conformance to requirements and financial objectives;
Preparing and processing travel authorizations and local travel claims for reimbursements;
Organizing workshops, conferences, staff meetings, and training sessions; and
Assisting in the facilitation of relocation services for employees.

GS-09
Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-09 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. This experience must include:
Processing and monitoring inquiries, directives, policies, procedures, and/or guidelines to ensure the office environment is informed;
Managing travel authorizations and local travel claims for reimbursements;
Facilitating relocation services for employees.
Presenting at workshops, conferences, staff meetings, and training sessions on diverse topics; and
Formulating budgetary information by ensuring its accuracy and conformance to requirements and financial objectives.
