About the Position: Position is located at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Fort Campbell, KY. Position is assigned to the Education and Staff Development team. Work hours are Monday-Friday, 0730-1630. The primary purpose of this position is to develop and deliver appropriate resuscitation, ICTL, Mock Code training to all designated Market personnel.

Duties

Trains individuals in courses such as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) courses, Life Support Programs (BLS, PALS, ALS), EMT Refresher courses, Trauma AIMS, EMT Intermediate Courses, for an organization. Demonstrates the ability to clearly present information to civilian and military personnel. Assists trainees with inquiries regarding health education programs. Schedules classes with adjunct instructors to accomplish training objectives. Conducts training instruction on a verity of health education programs. Provides training and education for individuals and groups within learning environments. Analyzes program operation data to compile reports for the department.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes 1) providing administrative support to an emergency medical service training program; 2) coordinating and instructing resuscitation courses; 3) and utilizing automated databases to maintain course records and files. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate, Paramedic, licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Registered Nurse (RN). OR Superior Academic Achievement: Successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in Education above. Superior Academic Achievement is based on: (1) Class Standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; (2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - Applicants must have a grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. (3) Honor Society Membership - Applicants may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achshonor.org/). OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
