Program Support Assistant responsible for a variety of administrative activities, under the supervision of the Administrative Officer of ACOS for Mental Health & Behavioral Health Sciences Service. Assists in the Service data management, automated data processing, administrative support for the office and tasks related to office automation such as word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.
Duties
Include, but are not limited to:
Completes a variety of staffing and workload reports and assures that reports are submitted within the required period.
Provides various office duties such as typing, filing, transcribing dictation, maintenance of clinical and administrative files, forms, and policies.
Serves as Automated Data Processing Applications Coordinator (ADPAC).
Provides direct training and technical support to users of office automation (word processing, personal computers, etc.).
Assist in the management of the Fund Control Points (FCP) working closely with the Program Managers, Section Chiefs and Administrative Officers.
Prepares and submits requests for tuition, travel, and per diem for educational activities.
Serves as Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Service Sponsor.
Serves as alternate timekeeper for the Service staff, ensuring supportive documents such as medical certificates, advanced annual or sick leave justification, military orders, etc. are obtained and maintained.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 8:00AM to 4:30PM

Physical Requirements: The work is generally sedentary, but also involves frequent standing, walking, stooping, bending, driving, and carrying various equipment and supply items.

Qualifications

Preferred Experience: Provides technical assistance to the Section Chiefs and its Program Managers on all aspects of the Services to ensure the Medical Center is compliant with the VHA guideline for the ACOS Mental Health & Behavioral Health Sciences Service. Performs and distributes minutes, memos, and hospital bulletins. Receives incoming phone calls and correspondence, enters data, maintain records, and uses and completes forms. Maintains accurate actions of compliance with accrediting bodies and coordinates the preparation of the physician's profiles for appointments and re-appointments. Maintains the tracking, notification and monitoring of all requirements and maintenance of updated current credentialing data base, handbooks and directives. Performs equipment evaluations from FMS, prepares equipment turn-ins for proper disposition; and keep orderly files of equipment inventory. Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations.
GS-6 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: administrative support for the office and tasks related to office automation such as word processing, databases, and spreadsheets. Completes a variety of staffing and workload reports. Provides various office duties such as typing, filing, maintenance of clinical and administrative files, forms, and policies. Serves as Automated Data Processing Applications Coordinator (ADPAC). Provides direct training and technical support to users of office automation (word processing, personal computers, etc.). Maintaining program equipment and supplies, alternate timekeeper, responds to patients' calls.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.
