About the Position: Coordinate Military Funeral Honors program requirements to include interment ceremonies and exhumations on post cemeteries for which they are the responsible Casualty Assistance Center (CAC). Assist and provide guidance to military commands on the establishment of memorials in honor and memory of Fallen veterans.

Duties

Coordinate Military Funeral Honors arrangements with various organizations. Provide customer service in regards to memorial affairs. Assist in training Military Honor members to ensure readiness of mission. Coordinate travel requests for all personnel involved with Military Funeral Honors team and family members. Arrange with command for needed vehicles for funeral services.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • Must have a valid drivers license.
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required up to 10%.
  • Employee will be required to work irregular tours of duty to include on call, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in mortuary and cemetery operations, office automation systems to complete funeral requests; performing customer service, coordinating arrangements for memorial procedures, contacting outside funeral homes, cemeteries and Veteran organizations; coordinating travel arrangements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Mortuary affairs, Business administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementClericalCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical) Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
