About the Position: Serves as the Workforce Development Program Manager, responsible for overseeing government and commercial developmental training programs for Fort Johnson, Louisiana. Provides recommendations to the installation leadership concerning mandatory, professional development, and other workforce training related matters to address organizational needs. Develops training plans, policies, and administration of the training program for over 1,000 Department of the Army civilians.
Duties
Serve as the expert action officer for Installation future training, long range plans, and forecasts.
Responsible for obtaining and implementing government purchase card and contracts to execute training purchases.
Prepare the workforce development/training portion of the Army Communities of Excellence (ACOE) and Strategic Human Capital Plan (SHCP).
Lead the development of the Installation's training policy and requirements integration.
Develop new approaches to identifying training requirements for the Installation.
Serve as program manager in promoting and implementing leadership development initiative at all levels.
Serves as a career counselor, responsible for assisting all employees with career changes and training requirements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- Must acquire and maintain Government Purchase Card within 1 year of position acceptance

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in the implementation of a professional development program for a workforce/organization; advising on policies and procedures pertaining to workforce development functions; and developing training plans to improve the development of employees. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
