This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Aviation Logistics Center (ALC), Short Range Recovery (SRR) Product Line, SRR Programmed Depot Maintenance (PDM) Branch, Elizabeth City, North Carolina. .

Qualifications

Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT ELEMENT). Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic). Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading). Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment. Use of measuring instruments. Troubleshooting Applicants at the WG-5 grade level must have experience operating power and/hand tools and equipment such as pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, torque wrenches, and various gauges and meters, and experience or training reading and understanding technical manuals, orders, blueprints and sketches. Applicants at the WG-8 level, in addition to the experience requirements above, applicants must have experience dissembling aircraft or major aircraft components for overhaul or modification and performing repairs, alignments and adjustments on aircraft systems/components. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
