This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard YARD, Industrial Department, Electro Group, Baltimore, Maryland.

Duties

You will be responsible for assisting WD-7 Electronics Shop Planner with planning, technical coordination, and implementation of best Industrial Controls/Electronics best repair practices, for construction and repair required for accomplishing all operations along with Yard Objectives. Also, WD-5 Shop Planner is responsible for EKMS (Electronic Key).Working for the Coast Guard as a civilian makes you a valuable team member.  Typical duties include:

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must submit a copy of most recent SF-50, Notice of Personnel Action
  • Drug/Alcohol test required.
  • Secret Clerance Required.

Qualifications

Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired.Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:1. Ability to do the work of the position without greater than normal supervision (SCREENOUT)2. Knowledge of equipment, assembly, installation, repair, etc.3. Use of Test Equipment: Electronics4. Theory of Electronics 5. Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools -Electronics6. Trouble shooting (Electronic Equipment)7. Ingenuity (Ability To Suggest and Apply New Methods)National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
