About the Position: The incumbent will work on a variety of major security program areas within the Force Protection Program, which consists of the integration and enhancement of sub-component security activities: antiterrorism, physical security, and law enforcement. Assesses security vulnerability risks, policy compliance, and security operations; develops and implements security operational guidance; helps to ensure full compliance with applicable security directives.
Duties
Develops approach for furnishing technical advice and guidance on Electronic Security Center (ECS) Electronic Security systems Mandatory Center of Expertise (ESS-MCS) assignments.
Establishing of ESS related criteria, performance of ESS applications assessments and surveys.
Advise customers in ESS program policies, technical procedures, and design issues and parameters.
Incumbent conducts special studies of state-of the art ESS applications and problems that arise during design, installation, testing, and operations.
Participates in technical forums with various Army and other Government agencies, as well as commercial industry, in development and improvement of various technical policy, procedures and criteria.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a TOP SECRET security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 30% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent to pass a screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and subsequent periodic drug screening thereafter.
- This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure (OGE 450) and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain the SPeD Certification Physical Security Certification (PSC) within their first two years of employment.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain the SPeD Certification Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within 3 years of employment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Recommending methods for utilizing Electronic Security Systems (ESS) to enhance overall physical security through modifications/applications of new techniques and evolving state of the art technology; 2) Conducting security training and briefings; 3) Developing and implementing national and international level guidance in-standards, guidelines, or policies for Electronic Security Systems associated with major security programs; AND 4) Recommending to commands development and assessment of long range studies and requirements for physical security equipment.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
