This position is located on the Conservation Branch in Washington DC, National Headquarters as the Assistant to the Chief of Staff of the Chief.
During the initial one year period, the position will be at the current duty station of the selected applicant. IF it is determined that the position will become permanent, then the selectee will be required to transfer (relocation expenses authorized, if eligible) at that time to Washington DC.
Duties
Interpret regulations to ensure statutory compliance.
Determine program trends which may affect the current policies.
Provide subject matter expert interpretation on laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Provide programmatic advice in the management of financial and personnel resources.
Collaborate to make technical determinations on course of action to resolve issues.
Provide strategic advice to senior leadership on mission related issues.
Evaluate work requirements to determine goals and objectives.
Evaluate program execution at subordinate staff levels.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
Time in grade: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade to be considered for the next higher grade (e.g. one year at the GS-13 grade level for consideration for the GS-14 grade level).
Applicants must meet the following Minimum Qualifications Requirement in order to be considered:
Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-14 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) serving as an expert on planning, analyzing, and evaluating major program changes that require regulatory action by the mission area; 2) developing plans and guidelines to resolve problems; 3) providing expert technical advice to management and program officials on the development of regulations; 4) ensuring operations conform to appropriate principals and standards.
Note: There is no education substitution for the GS-14 level.
