This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-13 and GS-14.
You will serve as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist in the Corporate Operations Department, Infrastructure Division, Safety Branch (Code 1024) of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division.
Duties
You will serve as a senior specialist for technical programs administrated by the Safety Branch.
You will apply safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures to advise on or resolve technical safety matters.
You will conduct inspections of units where exposure and type of hazard may be unknown.
You will consult and coordinate with other senior safety professionals and management to ensure organization’s safety compliance.
You will design and implement safety programs, evaluate programs, issue recommendations, and implement approved changes.
You will conduct site inspections and audits, facilitate regulatory visits, and implement corrective actions.
You will conduct training in applicable safety areas for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards, and to identify potential new hazards.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-4 pay band (GS-11 and GS-12 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying a wide range of safety and occupational health principles to advise on or resolve technical safety matters.
