This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS) Managed Care Group (MCG).
As a Special Assistant, GS-0301-14, you will serve as special assistant to support management with a review of policies under development, coordination of work assignments and conducting special staff projects for the group.
Duties
Coordinates and manages information data analysis and projects assignments for the component.
Serves as a primary source of background information and data on the basis of research performed in preparation for meetings and conferences.
Performs policy reviews to ensure goals and objectives of the component are met.
Provides executive level support and coordination for projects within CMCS and those spanning CMS components.
Supports management with initiating and maintaining relationships with human resources management and staff to promote strategic hiring initiatives.

In order to qualify for the GS-14 , you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:
Analyzing healthcare programs and policies to advise management; and
Coordinating special initiatives and/or projects to ensure that information is aligned with strategic goals; and
Developing documents (i.e. briefing papers, analytical reports, standard operating procedures, guidelines, issue papers, administrative management reports, etc.) to ensure compliance with Federal regulation; and
Recommending administrative initiatives to senior management or key stakeholders.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
