The primary purpose of the position is to perform building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties. Incumbent utilizes journeyman knowledge and skills in several trades and crafts.
Duties
As a Maintenance Mechanic you will:
Perform general plumbing maintenance, such as maintaining plumbing to kitchen and bathroom fixtures and sprinkler systems and fuel supply pipe systems to buildings and residences.
Perform general carpentry work, such as repairing, constructing, installing, and replacing doors, shelves, windows, trim, cabinets, shelves, shutters to buildings and inside of residences.
Perform general HVAC work including repairing, replacing, and cleaning of HVAC systems in housing and buildings.
Perform general painting, masonry work, roofing etc.
Utilize a variety of materials, tools and equipment associated with the repair and maintenance of structures and grounds.
Maintain, construct, repair, and alters a variety of structures and surfaces of brick, block, stone.
Performs maintenance, repair, restoration and stabilization of cultural resources.
Restore, stabilize, or repair floors of brick, or stone.

The National Park Service's National Mall and Memorial Parks preserves, protects, and interprets the symbolic and monumental civic spaces and commemorative works in the center of the Nation's Capital that honor American ideals and values, distinguished public figures, and military and civilian sacrifices and contributions. On the National Mall these sites include the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, World War II Memorial, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial. National Mall and Memorial Parks also serves as a public park and open space for active civic and cultural engagement, recreation, and public enjoyment.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Ability to Do the Work of the Position Without More Than Normal Supervision(SCREEN OUT)
Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation Repair, etc
Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic)
Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprints reading)
Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment.
Knowledge of materials.
Use of Measurements.
