A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected. The display of a salary range on this vacancy shall not be construed as granting an entitlement to a higher rate of pay. This position is in the Maintenance Division located at Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine in Baltimore, Maryland.

Duties

Utilize a variety of materials, tools, and equipment associated with the repair and maintenance of structures and grounds. Perform minor plumbing repairs of limited difficulty such as tightening or replacing in-kind fittings and fixtures. Perform minor carpentry repairs of limited difficulty to buildings and quarters. Construct, install, repair and replace such items as doors, shelves, supply racks, hardware, frame structures, windows, trim and cabinets. Perform routine maintenance at different sites and visitor facilities, to include cleaning restrooms, and making minor repairs as needed. Receive, unload and process incoming shipments according to established procedures, and report discrepancies and damage to others responsible for such items. May perform other duties such as painting, masonry work, roofing, welding, or assisting higher grade workers with maintenance of utility systems in the facility. Operate a light truck to pick up supplies and to transport materials to and from work sites.
