This position is located in Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Director of Governmental & Public Affairs (CG-092), Office of External Outreach and Heritage (CG-0923), National Coast Guard Museum, New London, CT.

Duties

You will serve as the Deputy Director, National CG Museum, providing organizational leadership and overseeing the administrative management of the museum, including implementation of strategic objectives and organizational initiatives.

Requirements

  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-14: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lowest grade level (GS-13 level) in the federal service.  Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.  Specialized experience must include experience the following: Managing multiple programs related to the collections and research of a museum or cultural institution; AND Planning and implementing public relations and/or marketing/social media; AND Leading an educational or exhibits program for an organization; AND Managing contracts, preparing cost estimates for projects, developing scopes of work, and final specifications for historic preservation work; AND Applying basic budgetary and financial management principles and techniques related to long-range planning of programs. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
