This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Coast Guard Academy, Command Staff, Culture and Climate Staff, New London, CT.
Duties
You will provide expertise and guidance on culture and climate management and program development to attract and retain multicultural cadets, faculty, and staff. You will also help partner with area colleges and universities, local high schools, and community organizations to design and carry out the strategic culture and climate goals, metrics, and objectives for the Academy.

Qualifications
Qualifications for GS-12: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples include: Applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of an educational program; application of pertinent laws, regulations, policies and precedents which affect the use of program and related support resources in a STEM educational program; knowledge of the major issues, program goals and objectives, work processes, and administrative operations of the organization; adapting analytical techniques and evaluation criteria to the measurement and improvement of program effectiveness and/or organizational productivity; conducting detailed analysis of complex functions and work process; or presenting recommendations and negotiating solutions to disputed recommendations. Knowledge or working with students on retention; experience developing, running, and assessing programs designed to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
