This position is part of the Department of Energy, Office of Energy Justice and Equity. As the Chief, Energy Justice Policy Division, you will advise program offices on developing and facilitating plans and guidance in order to realize benefits such as investments in communities historically underserved and overburdened by the energy sector.

As a Chief, Energy Justice Policy Division, you will:

  • You must be a United States Citizen.

  • You are required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of entering the position and annually.
  • First time supervisors will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period.
  • This position has been designated as PUBLIC TRUST. A preliminary background check must be completed before a new employee can begin work. Current Federal employees or others with an existing investigation may not be required to undergo another check.
  • This position is not included in a Bargaining Unit.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-14) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following: Managing a team of program managers or analysts to include work and administrative functions such as professional development, performance standards, training requirements, and equal employment opportunity programs. Leading a team in the evaluation of organization programs to gauge goal progress or to identify issues that require corrective actions to minimize problems and communicating recommendations to senior leadership. Interpreting legislation or regulations to advise on policy changes related to energy and environmental justice challenges or opportunities. Education cannot be substituted for experience at the GS-15 grade level. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration. You must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
