You will serve as a SHIPFITTER SUPERVISOR I in the Structural Shop (Code 920), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will be responsible to simultaneously deliver cost, schedule and quality performance to customers. You will implement high performance organization attributes as learned through training and understanding and deployment of the shipyard Strategic Plan. You will monitor the status of assigned work in relation to the overall scheduled requirements including unanticipated or emergency requirements.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE Developing and modification, fabrication, repair and installation of various metal structural parts of ships and other vessel on a continuing basis. Additionally, I performed such task as: determining sequence, priorities and deadlines of scheduled assignments; estimating material, equipment and manpower needs; developing and implementing work and safety procedures; AND executing administrative functions such as scheduling and approving leave, issuing performance appraisals, deciding conduct related matters, and supporting Equal Employment Opportunity principles and practices. Developing and modification, fabrication, repair and installation of various metal structural parts of ships and other vessels in the absence of my regular supervisor, or on a rotating or part-time basis. Additionally, I performed such task as: determining priorities or deadlines of assignments; estimating material, equipment and manpower needs; observing tasks in progress; giving advice, or instruction to employees. OR providing administrative functions such as scheduling or approving leave; or providing evaluation of work performance of subordinates to supervisor; or supporting Equal Employment Opportunity principles and practices. Modification, fabrication, repair and installation of various metal structural parts of ships and other vessels. I lead teams in such areas as: setting the work-pace; passing on instructions received from supervisors; assigning tasks to be performed; assuring that work assignments are carried out; providing advice or instruction to employees on work or administrative matters; or supporting Equal Employment Opportunity principles and practices.
