This position is located at Departmental Offices, Terrorist and Financial Intelligence - Office of Foreign Assets Control. As an Economist (Research Analyst), you will serve as a research analyst and administrative resource to SEAD officials and staff, providing economic analysis to support macroeconomic and financial policy analysis to inform the design and implementation of sanctions.
Duties
As an Economist (Research Analyst), you will:
- Provide research and analysis on pertinent issues, economic policies, and precedents that affect the programs of this organization.
- Research, verify, edit, extract, and assemble data from various sources.
- Assist the Office in responding to requests for economic and policy information from senior Treasury officials, other Executive Branch agencies, Congress and outside groups.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience for the GS-11: You must have one year of experience at the GS-9 level in Federal service, or equivalent experience in the public and/or private sector, directly related to the position that has equipped the candidate with the particular experience to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes ALL of the following:
-Experience researching, verifying, editing, extracting, and assembling data from various sources to provide analysis of economic policies, issues, and laws; AND
-Experience preparing economic charts, graphs, talking points, or summaries of content found in professional materials (such as books or journals); AND
-Experience presenting summary and analysis, both orally and in writing, of technical information related to economic policies and initiatives to senior officials and/or non-technical audiences who lack expertise in the area.
OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows. Education must be directly related to this experience to be qualifying:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree;
OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Education
The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the
OPM instructions.
Applicants for this position must meet the following basic education requirement:
A.
Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus;
OR
B.
Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
