This position will be assigned to the Skylark Community Center located on JBSA Lackland.
This is a Regular - Part Time category position with guaranteed 20 hours per week and may work up to 40 hours per week. Work schedule varies based on facility needs and includes weekends and/or holidays.
Employees appointed to regular category positions are eligible for benefits.
Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to assist in planning, developing, and administering programs to enhance personal and
professional development, performing arts, leisure and recreation, family life skills, and base-wide special events. Plans and
coordinates the recurring and non-recurring activities/programs and special and joint community undertakings so as to maximize the
use of facilities, services, and other resources consistent with the Air Force mission. Conducts needs and interest assessments to
determine programming and instructional class offerings. Establishes single event surveys to determine program effectiveness and
customer satisfaction for all major events. Determines supply and equipment requirements and assists in the financial planning for
programs. Coordinates, plans and promotes special emphasis programs, i.e. Hispanic, Asian, Black History Month; Air Force
Trademark Events; and base community theater program. Plans talent contests, acts as an on-site manager for command productions
of TOPS IN BLUE; oversees and promotes the Congressional Award Program, serving as an advisor to enrolled participants.
Develops/conducts programs for special interest groups. Identifies the need for, plans, and conducts family activities during
deployments, exercises and other special activities. Co-sponsors family activities and other special events with the Youth Program and
other Services activities and base agencies. Solicits volunteer services for activities and provides required orientation, training, and
management. Coordinates facility use. Assists in properly identifying facility repair and maintenance requirements. Assists in
maintaining the inside and outside of the community center facilities. Works with community center manager and marketing to
formulate a marketing plan, develop an annual calendar of events and publicize activities. Gathers, monitors, and maintains data to

- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing drug use. Must have a Texas driver's license.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or special occasions.

Qualifying Experience:
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent with a minimum of two years work experience in recreation or a related field. Must
possess knowledge of personal and professional development, performing arts, leisure and recreation, and family activities. Must
possess basic computer skills and knowledge. Work requires physical exertion and applicant must be able to lift 15-30 lbs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's):
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

programs, i.e., program priorities and schedules, determining how and when work is to be accomplished, and allocating resources as required.
2. Independently identifies and finds solutions for possible concerns in such areas as participation, supervision, instruction, and safety.
3. Maintains good working relationships with subordinates, co-workers, base officials, other squadrons and outside agencies.
4. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
