Duties

Performs multidisciplinary professional engineering work involving the application of electronics, mechanical, aerospace, and/or other engineering disciplines in analysis and assessment of foreign research, design, development, test, evaluation, integration, acquisition, dissemination, sustainment, modification, and/or exploitation of complex aerodynamic systems to support the organizations' s mission objectives. Provides technical guidance, advisory support, and assistance.Performs studies/evaluations on an individual basis or as a team member responsible for completing defined portions of an overall work effort. Serves as a consultant making technical recommendations to other organizations, command, and/or agencies. Attends meetings, conferences, briefings, and working groups to provide engineering, intelligence findings and champion organization objectives. Represents the organization during visits with government and industry representatives. Accomplishes professional development and maintains technical proficiencythrough professional interaction with intelligence community analysts, customers, technical and professional societies, symposia, research and development organizations, and participation in formal training programs.

  • A solid background in computer science or equivalent experience in the application of its principles, concepts, methodology, and emerging technologies is also required.
  • A Master’s degree or equivalent in physics, science, engineering, or other scientific/technical field is highly desired.
  • Position is designated special-sensitive, and incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Electronics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with background and knowledge of a wide range of concepts, principles and practices of systems, system processes, networks, and infrastructure.

Qualifications

This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions. BASIC REQUIREMENT: Mechanical Engineering Series 0830, Electrical Engineering Series 0850, Electronics Engineering Series 0855, Aerospace Engineering Series 0861 A. Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: Knowledge of a wide range of concepts, principals, and practices in a professional or administrative occupation and skill applying this knowledge to difficult and complex work assignments; or a comprehensive, intensive, practical knowledge of the aerospace field and skill in applying this knowledge to the development of new methods, approaches, or procedures. NOTE: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency. Professional knowledge of engineering (Aerospace, Electronics, Mechanical or Electrical) principles, standards, methods, techniques, practices and procedures to effectively apply engineering and scientific theories to the analysis, assessment and estimation of foreign aerospace weapon system and subsystem performance, capabilities and vulnerabilities. 2. Knowledge and understanding of agency, AF, Department of Defense (DoD), and national-level doctrine, regulations, policies, guidelines, requirements, and initiative related to assigned program(s) and/or projects(s). 3. Ability to collaborate and effectively work within a group setting. 4. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective relationships, negotiating complex issues, and resolving conflicts based on mature judgment, experience, and recognized professional standing. 5. Knowledge of security procedures to maintain control of classified material. 6. Ability to effectively organize and analyze information; produce authoritative reports, position papers, and briefings which are responsive to the specific needs of squadron objectives; and skill and ability to present clear and concise findings and effectively advocate for a position OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS PERTAINING TO THIS POSITION: This position is covered by the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS), and as such will subject the incumbent to those examinations and/or tests that are necessary to obtain and retain a security clearance and any special accesses required by the position in accordance with AFI 36-1101. Position is designated special-sensitive and incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed. Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
