About the Position: Works under the general supervision of the Army Community Service (ACS) Division Chief who provides guidance on policies and program objectives IAW the Exceptional Family Member Program at any size garrison
This is a TERM position not to exceed 3 years.
Duties
Responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining an Exceptional Family Member Coordinator Program (EFMP) for active-duty sponsors of family members who have physical, developmental, emotional, or intellectual impairments/disabilities.
Establishes and maintains cooperative relationship in order to ensure delivery of integrated program services, and monitor compliance with public laws mandating education and related services to individuals with impairments or disabilities.
Ensures relocating families with special needs children are referred to the appropriate special education and medical care providers.
Prepares the Annual EFMP assessment guide, monitors installation compliance with Army Regulation, and distributes appropriately.
Requirements
- Background/records checks, IAW DoDI 1402.05, AR 608-18 (MPs - NCIC, ASAP, ACR and State Child Protective Services) and Army Directive 2014-23, IMCOM G9 Memorandum, dated 26 June 2015 directing a CNACI, are required for this position.

Basic Requirement for Exceptional Family Member Program Coordinator:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, etc.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) coordinating services for individuals who have physical, developmental, emotional, or intellectual impairments/disabilities; 2) providing counseling and referral services; 3) developing education programs for individuals who have a possible need for specialized medical care, therapy, developmental services, or special education; 4) provide information to families about their rights and responsibilities under local, state and federal laws; 5) Establishes cooperative partnerships with a variety of providers of special needs services for delivery of integrated program services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
Education
