This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Clinical Standards and Quality . As a Supervisory IT Specialist (Security), GS-2210-15, you will plan and coordinate the information technology work activities of staff that is engaged in the day-to-day implementation of new information systems, projects, and programs for the Health Care Quality Information System and Quality Improvement and Evaluation System.

Duties

Lead, monitor, and independently reviews corrective actions associated with the design, development, and security of quality health care IT projects. Conduct in-depth analysis and reviews system reports to assess need for improved internal controls or corrective action plans for noted deficiencies and security risks. Direct and plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Serve as a point of contact for highly complex IT projects to answer or otherwise handle a variety of questions and issues related to the IT security requirements and implementation of QPP applications.

Applicants must also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. (3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. (4) Problem-Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In order to qualify for the GS-15, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: Providing technical guidance or oversight of IT systems and IT program operations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
