This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Information Technology (OIT), Information Security and Privacy Group (ISPG), Division of Cyber Threat and Security Operations (DCTSO).
As a Supervisory IT Specialist (Security), GS-2210-15, you will serve as first-level supervisor and Division Director, who leads a staff responsible for operating the CMS Enterprise Security Operations Center.
Duties
Oversees the enterprise breach notification process through participation in risk assessments and coordination with CMS business owners and HHS (e.g. Privacy Incident Response Team and the Office for Civil Rights).
Oversees or personally conducts work that develops and produces a variety of written products, including briefing documents, correspondence, contractor performance evaluations, project evaluations and reports, and issue papers.
Translates technically complex concepts into understandable and actionable language for non-technical audiences, and adapts communication style and presentation in line with an audience’s specific needs (e.g., senior leadership).
Finds ways to improve production or increase the quality of the work directed and develops performance standards. Hears and resolves complaints from subordinates.
Plans and manages the development, implementation, and operations of the CMS vulnerability management program, which conducts ongoing assessments of the CMS enterprise network environment.

In order to qualify for the GS-15 grade level, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:
(1) Providing technical guidance in developing and improving security architecture;
(2) Providing guidance on Information Technology (IT) security and privacy compliance to stakeholders; AND
(3) Analyzing IT security and privacy requirements to determine risk to an organization's programs.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
