This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Information Technology, Front Office (FO).
As a Special Assistant, GS-0301-14, you will provide authoritative recommendations on key issues affecting the operations of the Office and CMS programs.
Duties
Directs, monitors and reports on major projects assigned to subordinate components by the Office to ensure that Office goals, objectives, and deadlines are understood and met.
Performs special replies and evaluations and follows up with key officials to assure that goals, objectives, and deadlines are understood and met.
Reports orally or prepares written reports of findings ,actions taken or recommended for the Executives’ attention.
Attends high-level meetings and conferences with the Executives and serves as a source of background data on the basis of research performed in preparation for the meetings and conferences.
Works independently on special assignments involving sensitive and/or confidential administrative and IT program related issues.

In order to qualify for the GS-14, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:
Researching, analyzing, and making recommendations to senior leadership on enterprise-level initiatives;
Developing implementation strategies based on program/operational policies or industry standards that have enterprisewide impacts; and
Preparing briefings, memos, or reports for executive meetings with constituents at various levels within and outside of the Agency..
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
