You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the SURFACE ELECTRONIC WARFARE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (SEWIP) of AEGIS COMBATSYSC. This position is part of the Department of Defense Civilian Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project. The NJ-4 broadband level encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 and GS-13.

Duties

You will coordinate, plan, and schedule associated maintenance, overhauls, and grooms for all associated Electronic Warfare and Combat Systems Weapons equipment at Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC). You will identify training requirements and plan/execute applicable on-the-job training, familiarization, and cross-training for self, and work center associates. You will conduct data extraction and analysis using extraction/analysis tools, as applicable for the purpose of fault detection/fault isolation and root cause analysis of systems. You will work with Data Analysis Center (DAC) personnel to promote escalation of data analysis to proper organizations (NSWC Dahlgren, Corona, PEO IWS, etc.) through properly coordinated channels. You will work directly with the contractor support team to ensure setups are coordinated with SCSC’s customer(s), Combat Systems, and Operations Departments. You will setup and collect data recording/data extraction, document observed issues/problems while operating combat system suites, and perform systematic take down at the completion of the mission event. You will investigate and report on any mission event that failed to meet any customer objectives to include root cause analysis.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band NJ-03 (GS-11) or grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying technical engineering methods to develop documentation and recommend improvements to ensure reliability and compliance for a weapons system.
