The National Institutes of Health Clinical Center Pharmacy is seeking exceptionally talented, knowledgeable, and motivated Pharmacy Technicians. This announcement is being advertised to fill pharmacy technician vacancies within the Clinical Center Pharmacy Department's Investigational Drug Control Unit. Duties

As a Pharmacy Technician GS-0661-07, your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Assisting in maintaining the investigational drug database including accurately inputting information and generating reports. Participating in the set-up of clinical drug trials, as needed, including assembling study binders and other required items. Assisting pharmacists in consultations for initial protocol set-up in the Pharmacy Department. Assisting in maintaining blinding of investigational drugs and treatment randomizations. Assisting in performing regular internal audits on investigational drug inventories and drug accountability logs. Checking for shortages, tampering, breakages, deterioration, and date of expiration. Monitoring and recording activities for all required investigational drug service logs (e.g., inventory balance, equipment maintenance).

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.
  • Employment is subject to the successful completion of the pre-appointment process (i.e., background investigation, verification of qualifications and job requirements, completion of onboarding forms, submission of required documents, etc.)
  • Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
  • Applicants must meet all qualifications requirements within thirty (30) calendar days of the closing date of this announcement, including time in grade.
  • Pre-Employment Medical Examination may be required.
  • Work requires physical activity that includes lifting and carrying large, heavy boxes (i.e., 25 pounds) and sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time.
  • The work may occasionally require stooping or kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor or to remove and replace items on lower shelves) and/or reaching above shoulders (e.g., to remove or replace items on upper shelves).
  • The work also requires specific physical characteristics to include dexterity to perform fine, precise work, delicate adjustments, and exact measurements associated with delicate machines and specialized drugs.
  • The work is performed in a clinical environment.
  • Work involves moderate risks and discomforts associated with, for example, exposure to chemical solutions, potentially infectious tissue specimens, toxic agents, or irritant chemicals.
  • Special safety precautions and protective gear and clothing may be required in the clinical areas.
  • At the supervisor's discretion, this position may offer compressed work schedules.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-07 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements: A. I qualify for this position at the GS-07 level because I have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Maintaining investigational drug inventory, providing technical direction and assistance with clinical trial protocols, performing drug distribution activities, maintaining and assisting in the record keeping related to clinical trials, assisting with quality assurance/improvement specific to investigational drug accountability, providing required equipment maintenance, and performing training/educational functions. OR B. I qualify for this position at the GS-07 level because I have completed one full year of graduate education, or an internship, in Pharmacy related education. One year of full-time graduate education is the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study, or 18 semester hours. OR C. I qualify for this position at the GS-07 level because I have a combination of graduate level education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
