Duties
Maintaining the calibrations of pharmaceutical sampling equipment and supplies.
Conducting aseptic processing and other competency assessments of staff for the access of sterile and non-sterile compounding spaces.
Participating in audits of various pharmaceutical department areas.
Maintaining and coordinating calibration/certification/qualification of equipment and facilities.
Participating in internal event investigations and corrective/preventative actions.
Maintaining QA documentation archives.
Reviewing compounding records for completion and regulatory compliance.
Facilitating clean room related maintenance and certification services by escorting the service providers to ensure adherence to the compliance policy and procedures applicable to the controlled spaces.
Providing guidance to senior and junior staff on document control and the documentation of deviations and change orders.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.
- Employment is subject to the successful completion of the pre-appointment process (i.e., background investigation, verification of qualifications and job requirements, completion of onboarding forms, submission of required documents, etc.)
- Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
- Applicants must meet all qualifications requirements within thirty (30) calendar days of the closing date of this announcement, including time in grade.
- Dexterity is required for handling delicate machines and special drugs.
- The incumbent frequently walks between offices in the Clinical Center and other buildings of the campus. The incumbent must be capable of spending most of the day on foot.
- May be required to use protective clothing or gear, such as masks, gowns, coats, boots, googles, gloves, or shields.
- Position is considered Emergency Essential. See "Additional Information" section below for additional details for this designation.
- Moderate risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions, e.g., exposure to contagious diseases or irritant chemicals.
- Medical Requirement: Must be fit for lifting and carrying large boxes.
- If selected, you must pass a pre-employment medical examination, provide evidence of immunization.
Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-07 Pharmacy Technician (Quality Assurance) position:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Monitoring pharmaceutical processes including the review and validation of sterile compounding preparations and various automated medication dispensing practices. Conducting medication inventory and maintaining inventory records. Assisting with audits of Pharmaceutical Standard Operating Procedures to ensure compliance. Implementing quality control measures that work to reduce medication errors.
OR
Completed one full year of graduate education, or an internship, in Pharmacy. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent (1) year of full-time study, or 18 semester hours.
OR
A combination of graduate level education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
