About the Position: About the Position: This position is located in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Philadelphia District Office, Engineering & Construction Division, Construction Branch within the Coastal New Jersey Resident Engineer Office, located in Pomona, New Jersey.
This is a term position not to exceed four years. May not be extended and cannot be made permanent.
Duties
You will review plans, specifications, shop drawings, and requests for changes to determine site conditions, feasibility of structures and construction, and to anticipate problems.
Conduct job site inspections of work in progress to ensure Contractor' work is in compliance with plans, specifications, procedures, use of materials, contract provisions and schedules, and shop drawings.
Prepares routine and special reports, memorandums, and correspondence reflecting the status of construction progress, delays in construction, noted deficiencies, and compliance with standards, materials, and/or contract modifications.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires you to possess a Valid State Driver’s License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 25% of the time.
- May need to complete 40-hour initial Hazardous Waste Operations Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Training within one (1) year of hiring date plus 8 hour refresher training.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

Specialized Experience: Specialized Experience is defined as one year of specialized experience which includes: Applying knowledge of both engineering and construction methods, techniques, materials and equipment, and safety practices in the inspection of construction projects; Preparing comprehensive construction inspection reports; Reading and interpreting engineering and architectural plans and specifications.
The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
