About the Position: Serves as the Law Enforcement primary training instructor/coordinator and is responsible for course development for Military Police Soldiers and Department of the Army Civilian Police Officers (DACP).
Duties
Serve as lead instructor and Field Training Officer (FTO) program manager for the agency
Responsible for development and maintenance of courses, lesson plans, and examinations and provides guidance to personnel assigned to instruct specialized blocks of instruction.
Develop, coordinates and administers in-service law enforcement training and developmental activities for all DACP officers and military police assigned to or in support of Fort Bliss.
Develop and or utilize law enforcement specific Military Qualification Standards (MQS), Mission Training Plans (MTP), Programs of Instruction (POI), Course Administrative Data (CAD) Sheets, resident.
Plans, coordinates and programs resources, and manages the contract for the Fort Bliss Law Enforcement Certification Course.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- Successfully graduate from United States Army Civilian Police Academy (USACPA) within one year of hire date.
- Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
- Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation.
- Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
- Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
- Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes responding to calls for police assistance and emergency situations; arresting and mirandizing suspects; conducting investigations of crimes and criminal activities; conducting vehicle or foot patrols; assisting instructor with training on policy and procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
