About the Position: Serves as a Shift Supervisor who exercises direct supervision of the activities of a guard force shift consisting of subordinate Security Guards at the GS-06 level and Lead Security Guards at the GS-07 level who are responsible for providing 24 hour maximum or extraordinary security measures against theft, fire, accident, pilferage, trespass, sabotage, and espionage.

Duties

Conduct investigations to apprehend and/or detain persons committing crimes against persons and property. Analyze data to identify suspects and develop case information for use in pressing charges and bringing suspects to trial. Collect, safeguard, document, and properly store evidence obtained during criminal investigations. Express ideas and facts to individuals and groups in a clear and convincing manner. Study and evaluate evidence, laboratory findings and statements to determine motives, methods and responsible individuals.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.
  • Must Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training.
  • Incumbent may be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.
  • Incumbent will be required to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test (PAT).
  • Must wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56, maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.
  • Employee must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
  • Must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments.
  • Employee must be able to perform as a member of the installation's overall security response capability.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.

Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
