About the Position: As Chief, Police/Provost Marshal Division, the incumbent is technically and administratively responsible for the law enforcement operations at an extremely large / large, complex, multi-mission garrison within the Installation Management Command (IMCOM).

Duties

Develops law enforcement programs and operating plans for the installation and is responsible for planning, supervising, and managing the operations of the division Meets with staff personnel concerning problems within their sections Prepares position papers on law enforcement issues for the Garrison Command Group and higher headquarters Plans for current and long-range operations based on workload trends and projected requirements Develops methods and procedures affecting overall operations and tasks subordinate supervisors. Establishes training programs within the department to ensure initial training, sustainment training and training on new policy and law is conducted Advises top-level installation managers on police department issues impacting them and develops acceptable solutions to problems. Conducts studies and develops recommendations on proposed new mission Works with staffing specialist to resolve critical recruitment problems. Approves leave, leave plans and work schedules Prepares performance rating plans and evaluates key Police Department personnel, counseling them as required. Plans for and initiates all requests for formal training.

  • Must obtain and maintain a Secret. Clearance
  • Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exemption or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
  • This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army. Must be able to successfully pass a drug test.
  • This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • Must successfully complete an initial and annual Physical Agility Test (AR 190-56).
  • Must qualify/remain qualified for the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • Incumbent must possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • Official Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 10% of the time may be required.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • Incumbent is required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the Commander and may be required to remain on duty after the official shift ends
