Duties
As a Public Health Advisor you will:
Serve as a recognized expert in public health sciences for the agency with responsibility for appraising programs, consults on technical problems, and leads in the development and preparation of technical assistance tools for state, tribal, local, and territorial public health programs.
Participate in various aspects of the interpreting data and scientific literature for programmatic and funding tools, guidance, and monitoring technical assistance delivery.
Collaborate on projects within the division, provides consultation, and coordinates efforts, as appropriate, with other program staff, other CDC Centers, other federal agencies, state and local health agencies, and private and non-private organizations.
Provide technical advice about public health program development and evaluating public health capacity and performance at local, state, and national levels.
Identify areas needing technical assistance material, provides and gives written guidance for Notice of Funding Opportunities (NOFOs) for Cooperative Agreements.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which must include the following experience: providing management and operations or technical advice and assistance in the management and implementation of public health programs.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
