This is a Direct Hire Authority solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serves as the organization's budget technician/administrative support assistant, helping the Branch Chief, and Section Chiefs on administrative support services related to budget preparation and administration, purchase requests, travel orders, government orders, and resource management.
Duties
Processing of timekeeping functions, training requests, and the preparation and distribution of training information and forms.
Processes financial documents and maintains quality controls, through Corps of Engineers Financial Management System (CEFMS) automated database management, to ensure accurate and timely certification and transaction processing.
Assists the unit's property manager and coordinates with the supply technician and all hand receipt account holders to manage property and to develop and administer internal procedures for assigning and accounting for property.
Prepares correspondence, reports, messages, and official forms using office automation equipment and software packages for work processing, spreadsheet analysis, group mail, financial management, and database management.
Prepares purchase requests, government orders, training, and travel order requests utilizing (CEFMS).

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- THIS IS A FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT Level 1 Certified position designated. Incumbent of this position is required to comply with all Department of Defense and Department of the Army requirements of this certification program.

Minimum Qualification for Budget Technician Position:
GS-06: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Performing and/or assisting with the preparation and verification of travel actions, purchase requests, and financial documents; 2) Answering inquiries concerning budget and administrative functions; AND 3) Enter budgetary data into an automated financial system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-5).
GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Preparing, verifying, and/or managing travel actions, purchase requests, and financial documents; 2) Preparing and answering inquiries concerning the budget and administrative functions; AND 3) Using a variety of computer programs and software to prepare budget reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-6).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this position you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted
