Duties

Serve as the Logistics Staff Specialist performing plans and operational support for assigned functional areas of Directorate of Public Works (DPW). Provide logistics management support for the management and accountability of property, equipment, and supplies. Determine the appropriate application of guidelines and reference materials relating to logistical matters. Execute a wide range of logistical support functions to include transportation, maintenance, property, facilities, and logistical planning. Develop justifications for funds, manpower, training, facilities, equipment, supplies, and services. Evaluate logistical reviews to recommend improvements to the efficiency of the organization. Manage the daily tasks of all assigned Department of Army Civilians and Contracted Manpower Equivalents. Develop local procedures to govern logistical operations and management of resources.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Analyzing logistics operations to develop changes in internal procedures and policies. 2) Providing technical guidance to resolve logistical issues. 3) Developing illustrative material such as slides or charts to convey information such as statistical or administrative data relating to logistical areas. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: any major field of study. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to DetailPlanning and EvaluatingSupply SupportTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
