You will serve as a Supervisory Internal Shop Manager located in the Waterfront Production and Self Help Branch (Code 900F.11), Temporary Facilities and Equipment Manager (Code 900F.1) Production Facilities and Equipment Manager (Code 900F), Production Resources Department (Code 900 of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will review, approve and direct work operations in the execution of a project within an assigned work zone.
You will take necessary action to achieve cost and schedule commitments.
You will coordinate with inside shops, ship's force and various shipyard department for testing.
You will initiate or attend meetings concerning work status.

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience utilizing skills in applying, a comprehensive range of principles, concepts and practices concerning shipyard work operations, control system requirements, trade and shop practices and development of personnel in the preservation shop (Code 970).
Experience with production trade work and technical methods, procedures, materials and processes associated with the repair and overhaul of complex Navy vessels, with a specialized practical knowledge of service practices and operations sufficient to review, approve and direct work operations in the execution of the assigned project which is subject to frequently changing work situations.
Experience utilizing techniques and practices as well as knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), Federal/State environmental regulations and local instructions that outline requirements for training and qualifications for Resource Department and Operations personnel.
Experience demonstrating project management, quality control, cost control, schedule control and workflow control techniques.
Experience investigating and analyzing practices and problems to initiate effective improvements and solutions.
Experience performing personnel management skills and the ability to supervise.
