Duties

Serving as a Training Technician GS-1702-9 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located in the Investigative Operations Division (IOD), under the Technical Training Operations (TTO) Directorate, and located in Glynco, Georgia. The primary purpose of this position is to provide assistance to the division's management, Program Managers, and Program Coordinators with the planning and execution of IOD programs and all training classes taught within the division. Typical duties include: Assisting the Branch Chief and Instructors in planning the scheduling and execution of basic and advanced programs and classes based on requests from a variety of law enforcement agencies and the training schedule for the division. Assisting the Program Coordinators in the formulation of plans and activities as they affect the availability and provision of training support services. Corresponding with other divisions and on-site partner organizations on various matters related to IOD's training programs. Providing guidance to the division Program Coordinators in developing consistency of lesson plans, student materials, and syllabi, i.e. format, style, etc. Performing a variety of record-keeping functions for the branch/division such as maintaining inventories, accountability for keys/property, budgets and/or timekeeping/scheduling. Participating in the multi-year development, execution, and documentation of programmatic budgets by gathering and computing programs costs based upon guest instructor fees and per diem, instructor travel, training equipment cost, supply costs, and miscellaneous expenses. Preparing and executing purchase requisitions and purchase card transactions to procure training equipment and supplies. Preparing and coordinating staff travel arrangements. Requirements

  • Current and former federal employees within the General Schedule (GS) must meet the time-in-grade requirements outlined in the "Qualifications" section of this announcement.
  • Bargaining Unit: This is a bargaining unit covered position, represented under the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU).
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state issued driver's license to conduct official government business.

  • You will be required to complete an OGE 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, within 30 days of starting your federal employment and annually thereafter as long as you occupy a position that requires financial disclosure reporting.

  • Overtime may be required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

You qualify at the GS-09 grade level if you possess one of the following: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in Federal service, performing duties such as: 1) Coordinating a training schedule to ensure the availability of facilities, instructors, equipment, and materials; 2) Reviewing all forms and training paperwork for accuracy and completeness in accordance with administrative and financial requirements; 3) Tracking budgetary information to assist with program planning, travel arrangements, and course supplies; 4) Preparing and executing purchase requisitions and credit card transactions in support of training programs; OR A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR An LL.B. or J.D., if related; OR A combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience as described above that, when combined, equal 100% of the total requirement. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application. NOTE: Only graduate education in excess of the first year may be used to qualify for the GS-09 level. All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement. Note: Current or former Federal employees MUST submit a copy of their SF-50 Form which shows competitive service appointment ("position occupied" block 34 on the SF-50 should show a "1"), tenure group (block 24 should show a 1 or 2), grade, and salary.
