You will serve as a PROTOCOL OFFICER in the NAVAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING COMMAND of NSTC GREAT LAKES.
Duties
You will respond to requests for advice and assistance in all matters relative to proper protocol procedures.
You will ensure responses are coordinated while maintaining confidentiality appropriate to the issue.
You will provide both formal and informal briefings to groups and individuals which convey useful information that can be applied to specific situations.
You will assist in the coordination of events with the action officers of various civilian organizations and military services.
You will formulate and recommend policies and procedures governing the protocol functions for approval.
Requirements

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
Qualifications
Qualifications for GS-11 level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: (1) Coordinate visits, meetings, and events to include logistical arrangements; (2) Coordinating all aspects of distinguished visitor visits; planning and conducting itineraries for visits by guests based on a comprehensive knowledge of national and international protocol, etiquette, rules and procedures; (3) Refining protocol processes and requirements and resolving issues that arise; (4) Providing briefings, reports, itineraries, and guidance to a wide range of civilian and military personnel on routine and unique protocol issues; and (5) Developing and executing protocol activities in support of VIP visits, international special events, ceremonies, and social functions.
Qualifications for the GS-09 level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: (1) Coordinate visits, meetings, and events to include logistical arrangements; (2) Knowledge of, and ability to successfully apply military protocol, etiquette manuals and guides, regulations, agency policy, practices and procedures to organize and oversee protocol events; (3) Escorting guests throughout special events such as: Very Important Person (VIP) guests, high ranking officials, and/or other visiting dignitaries; and (4) Performing administrative duties in support of assigned organization such as: managing records of events, creating correspondence, and/or researching information on procedures.

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
For GS-11
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
LL.M., if related
For GS-09
Master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree

LL.B. or J.D., if related.
