Duties
You will perform all day-to-day emergency and non-emergency tasks, duties and responsibilities as required.
You will perform engine company inspections, and building pre-plans, looking for infractions and the locations of local alarm and sprinkler systems, power, water, and gas shutoffs, noting all hazardous storage or conditions inside and outside.
You will perform station, grounds, apparatus, and equipment maintenance.
You may be required to perform the duties of relief Engineer, which includes driving and operating the structural and crash/rescue vehicles and aerial apparatus.
You will participate in public education activities.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination, and annually thereafter, a medical employment physical.
- You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid State driver’s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position requires rotating shift work.
- Required to work a 72-hour workweek and is subject to recall during off duty hours.
- Must participate in mandatory physical fitness program.
- Must possess certification with the Department of Defense Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (DOD/EVOC), California State Emergenc Medical Technicial (EMT/AED), Firefighter I.
- Must obtain Inland County Emergency Medical Agency (ICEMA) status within 60 days of hire.
- Must be certified at the appropriate firefighter certification levels as outlined in the DODI 6055.6M, Department of Defense (DOD) Fire Emergency Services Certification Program.
Qualifications
GS-07: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing firefighting duties in structural, aircraft, wildland, emergency medical, hazardous materials, urban search and rescue, emergency services communications, and fire prevention activities.
