The selectee for this position will serve as a Fire Protection Inspector in the Fire, Rescue & Emergency Services Branch, Marine Corps AIr Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California of MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CTR.
Duties
You will perform testing on fire protection systems (e.g. alarm system and fire suppression system) to determine operational condition.
You will review engineering plans and specifications for new construction, alteration, and extension of existing structures to ensure compliance with regulations (e.g. National Fire Protection Association).
You will conduct fire protection and prevention education and training programs to elicit support and involvement in fire prevention, detection, and suppression.
You will recommend new technologies, ideas, and programs to the supervisor for continuous improvement of fire protection/prevention programs.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

- A valid state driver's license. is required.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- A current, valid certificate in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) issued by the American Heart Association is required.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: inspecting facilities and structures for fire hazards and fire protection deficiencies; performing functional tests on fire suppression system and fire alarms; and interpreting and enforcing fire codes, regulations, and directives.
Selectee must possess the following certifications:
1. HAZMAT Awareness certification issued by the DoD, IFSAC, or ProBoard.
2. Fire Inspector I certification issued by the DoD, IFSAC, or ProBoard.
3. Fire Inspector II certification issued by the DoD, IFSAC, or ProBoard.
4. Fire Instructor I certification issued by the DoD, IFSAC, or ProBoard.
5. Firefighter I certification issued by the DoD, IFSAC, or ProBoard. Incumbent who do not possess the Firefighter I certification must achieve it as a condition of continued employment during the incumbent's probationary period.
6. Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B) certification by an agency recognized by the State of California. Additionally, the incumbent must apply for, and achieve, a valid EMT license by the local emergency medical services authority (EMSA), the Inland County Emergency Medical Association (ICEMA), within 60 calendar days of appointment.
