About the Position: Position serves as a Lead Police Officer with direct responsibility for 3 or more civilian police officers or Military Police officers. This position requires successful graduation from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy within 12 months of hire date unless exempt.

Duties

Respond to and investigate emergency calls. Exercise search and apprehension authority, interview witnesses, apprehend suspects. Collect and preserve evidence, conduct long and short-term investigations on criminal cases. Appear in court to provide sworn testimony on investigative process, evidence gathered, witness' statements in criminal and traffic courts. Conduct traffic law enforcement patrol and issue citations. Instruct employees on job techniques, check on work in progress and answer questions on procedures and regulatory directives. Report to supervisor on performance, progress and training needs of employees.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is covered by the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) and has been designated by the Department of Army as critical to the national or internal security. An assessment of suitability and character is required annually.
  • Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56 to include the requirement to wear a uniform and maintain a high state of uniform appearance, grooming standards and personal hygiene.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This position is subject to a criminal history background check.
  • Work requires physical exertion such as running, walking, and occasionally lifting, pushing and/or carrying items weighing 50 pounds or more. It requires stamina, physical agility and dexterity and the strength to pursue, apprehend or detain.
  • The incumbent may be required to push or drag heavy weights of 150 pounds or more and defend oneself or others against physical attack.
  • The work involves possible endangerment of life or serious injury that requires the exercise of safety precautions and use of personal protective equipment such as ballistic vests, coats, gloves, boots, goggles, masks, shields, etc.
  • Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
  • Position is subject to the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment. This act bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment medical examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
  • Incumbent must pass, within 90 days of being hired and annually thereafter, a physical agility test.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • You must have graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy or graduate within 12 months of hire date, unless you have a current approved waiver/exemption or are grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
