About the Position: Serves as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist at U.S Army Forces Command Security Force Assistance Command, 5th Security Forces Assistance Brigade, Joint Base Lewis Mcchord, Washington.

Duties

Provides technical guidance during the operations planning process to ensure the integration of safety risk management. Develops on-the spot methods and techniques to control or eliminate associated high-risk hazards. Serves as the Safety and Occupational Health Manager for a Brigade-sized unit with responsibility for planning, managing, and administering a safety and occupational health program Assesses the effectiveness of the Safety Program to identify strengths and weaknesses and develops methods and techniques to improve operational and systemic deficiencies. Provides technical guidance and ensures compliance with established safety criteria.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position
  • This position requires the selectee be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a TDY requirement of up to 50% of the time or less.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a U.S. Government Vehicle drivers license within 30 days of employment and be able to maintain the same.
  • This position may require the selectee to work nights, weekends, holidays and/or irregular duty hours commensurate with mission
  • This position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential" and is subject to deployment. May require employee to perform mission requirements in hostile environments.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid regular or official U.S. Passport.
  • Work involves frequent visits and temporary duty in CONUS and OCONUS field sites as well as deployment and participation in military exercises in a variety of environments.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment (PPE) provided by the employer.
  • This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random drug testing thereafter.
  • This position requires the incumbent to work on-call basis.
  • Incumbent must undergo firearms testing on a semi-annual basis
