About the Position: The U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command, with headquarters in North Chicago, IL, is a jointly staffed command and is staffed by representatives of all branches of the Armed Forces. The command, through its 65 military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS), determines whether applicants are qualified for enlistment based on standards set by each of the services. This position will be filled on a permanent basis.

Duties

Coach, facilitate, resolve work problems and participate in the work of the MEPS Processing Element. Provide input to supervisor on performance, progress, and training needs of employees, and on disciplinary problems. Perform Human Resources Assistant duties identical to those led. Certifies that enlistment has been properly conducted by verifying system displayed contract is complete and all additional disclosed information has been supplied to the service representative. Provide routine technical assistance or training to users of automated personnel database systems.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has been designated as non-sensitive and requires a personnel security background check.
  • This position may require incumbent to work an occasional Saturday and/or shift work (work before 0600 or after 1800 hours).
  • This position will routinely require incumbent to work unscheduled overtime to accommodate fluctuations in workload based on the daily mission requirements.
  • This position will require incumbent to successfully complete the Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training within 30 days of on-boarding and/or as required to access the MHS GENESIS System.

Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: CommunicationsCustomer ServiceHuman Resources Technology UsageManaging Human Resources Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). If you are a current Federal employee, you must include your pay plan, series and grade in your work experience(s) on your resume submission and/or upload supporting documentation (within-grade increase SF50) to show that you meet the time-in-grade requirement. In addition, if your step reflects '00', you must include your current salary for each position.
