About the Position: Serves as the Lead Human Resources Technician (OA) responsible for directing and guiding 3-5 Human Resources Technicians in GS-0203-05 or military equivalent. Incumbent of this position provides technical expertise, guidance and leadership to the Processing Element of the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) at Tampa, FL.
Duties
Contributes to establishment of processes and provides recommendations to the HRA Supervisor on SOP updates/changes
Conduct on-the-job training of new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices.
Gathers applicants for processing and enlistment ceremonies, administers pre-oath briefings, also briefs applicants on MEPS procedures.
Organizes the Processing staff to meet mission requirements. Establishes work schedules and executes the priorities of the HRA Supervisor
Maintains accountability of records
Contributes to completion of all work assigned to the Processing section to include transportation orders, amendments to transportation orders, and delayed entry program orders.
Operate a variety of office automation equipment including personal computers, facsimile machines, scanners, digital copiers, and industrial shredders.
Use personal computers and databases to conduct accurate data entry tasks.
Requirements

- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.

- This position requires frequent local travel and occasional Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time.
- A 1 year of trial/probationary period may be required.
- Must complete applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training within 30 days of on-boarding and/or as required.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
- This position requires the completion of a preemployment Physical Examination to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes understanding the workflow of processing in the testing, medical and operations processing sections of the MEPS, sufficient to work for short periods of time in other functional areas within the MEPS; ability to review documentation and verbal answers from applicants to ensure forms are correct and sufficient for entrance into the appropriate service. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university field(s) of study.

Combination of Education and Experience: Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
