You will serve as a COMPUTER SCIENTIST in the Software Engineering Branch (N641), Systems Integration Services Division (N64), Information Technology Services Department (N6), Naval Oceanographic Office of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
Duties
You will develop software according to organizational engineering processes
You will sustain quality software solutions, recommend and develop techniques to improve organizational efficiencies.
You will develop and maintain a software configuration guide to improve the software development and maintenace processes.
Requirements
- This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 621 level (intermediate) within 12 months of appointment.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience developing, integrating, troubleshooting, and deploying web applications on web and application servers.
Experience identifying and anticipating system/server performance, availability, capacity, or configuration problems and provide appropriate user notices to such issues via a GUI.
Experience with software design including Object Oriented Design and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
Experience utilizing cybersecurity guidelines and security compliant solutions
Experience with evaluating and implementing cybersecurity guidelines and Security Technical Implementation Guides.
Experience analyzing and resolving operational issues related to software and systems.
Experience working with IT personnel to resolve issues related to design, implementation and operations.
Experience programming in C#, C++, Python, Arcpy, Java or JavaScript.
Experience with software development with ArcGIS Desktop and Pro application development, ArcGIS Server development including creating map and geoprocessing services.
Experience with database querying using Oracle SQL, or PosgreSQL; familiarity to Cybersecurity best practices, secure code scanning, penetration testing, Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG/ASD), and agile programming practices.

Education
Basic Education Requirement:
Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in computer science.
OR
Successful completion of a bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
