THIS IS A NORTH DAKOTA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This ND National Guard position is for a PROJECT ASSISTANT, Position Description Number D2587000 and is part of the ND 141 MEB, National Guard.

Duties

Serves as the Project Assistant responsible for providing program/project operational support to the assigned office in the accomplishment of the organizational mission, vision, goals and objectives. Work is executed through the coordination, planning and a series of successive steps. Assists senior specialist/Project Coordination Specialist through performance of support functions related to one­ of-a-kind/non-recurring projects/programs. Prepares a variety of written correspondence (i.e., emails, and memorandums), guidance, reports, program direction and/or policy letters for dissemination to other offices within the organization. Reviews, interprets and applies administrative guidelines applicable to project operations. Performs work related to the practical and technical aspects of office administration assistance for projects/programs including issues related to budgeting, supply management and purchasing, personnel administration, time keeping, data processing, project tracking and files management.

Requirements

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the ND National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the ND National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the ND National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposition is mandatory.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft, and by other means of transportation as appropriate to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • Must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.

PCS STATEMENT: PERMANENT CHANGE OF STATION COSTS WILL NOT BE PAID FOR THIS POSITION. MILITARY GRADES: Enlisted (E7 and below) QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience and/or training must show possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant mustpossessthe experience, education, or training which indicates the candidate performed progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position; and 2) experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must possess the required one year of specialized experience at the GS-6 grade level or civilian equivalent; 1) the interpretation and application of regulations, procedures or laws; 2) Experience that provided a working knowledge of administrative functions; and 3) Experience working independently and setting priorities with very little supervisory control. You must also possess the experience, training or education to support your claim for the competency statements listed within the assessment questionnaire. Refer to "How you will be Evaluated" section of this announcement.
